Bedient Pipe Organ in Lincoln, Nebraska is expanding our team of dedicated organ builders and technicians. Building on our company’s rich 50-year history, we continue to strive to produce new instruments of the highest quality, to complete historically sensitive restorations, and to provide exceptional service to our tuning and maintenance customers. Each of our employees gains experience working in all of these areas.

Assistant Manager

This person will help manage projects and oversee their completion on time, within budgets, and to the satisfaction of the customers. He or she will be able to spend time working both in the office and in the shop and will have the opportunity to develop skills with AutoCAD and CNC router programming. This person will also be responsible for managing our annual service agreements with over 150 customers. He or she will have the opportunity to develop new customer relationships and expand the service department. This employee must be available for travel, both locally and on out-of-state trips. There will be opportunities to participate in other areas of organ building that could include design, voicing, pipe making, etc.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work with clients and employees
  • Ability to prepare cost estimates and write proposals
  • Ability to manage projects, employee, and tuning schedules
  • At least 5 to 10 years of experience in the organ industry

 

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Woodworking, electrical, and keyboard skills
  • Familiarity with various organ action types

Organ Builder and Service Technician

This person will work with wood, leather, felt, and other materials to build and repair pipe organ components, using both hand and power tools. The employee will use his or her creativity and problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot instruments both in the shop and in the field. This employee must be available for occasional travel to neighboring communities and out-of-state trips. 

 

Employees will have the opportunity to develop skills in other areas of organ building based on personal interests and abilities. These may include various aspects of pipe making working with lead, tin, brass, and copper. Metal working and welding skills are beneficial. Our shop uses a CNC router and employees will have the freedom to explore this tool and its programming. This person will work with electronic organ control systems and basic 12 VDC wiring.

Qualifications

  • Basic woodworking skills and familiarity with shop tools
  • Ability to work with other employees and customers
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High School diploma or GED

  • Basic metalworking
  • Interest in Music
  • Organization and creativity
